Leaping Cats Ltd

was formed in 1982.  Going from a small rebuild firm to the world wide panel, parts & rebuild XK specialist we are today.  Due to the delay in manufacture and unavailability of panels Mr Brown started making his own.
As the trade discovered the quality and speed of which the panels could be produced the orders began to come in
thick & fast.
Our panels have been shipped around the world from Belgium to Alaska.  For a long time Leaping Cats was the trades best kept secret,  but due to the awards
and admiration the cars get it's a secret that couldn't be kept quiet forever!

John Brown (MD) has been in the business of XK's for nearly 30 years.  He started as race mechanic for the WestonPark race team. He then moved to workshop manager for Graig Hintons Leaping Cats before taking over ownership nearly 25 years ago.

'John has forgotten more about XK's than most people will ever know'.

They are his life and love.  If this wasn't his job it would still be his life.  John's own XK won fastest at the Jabekke 50 year celebration, and most coveted car in show.  Of which he was very proud as it shows some of best work, with shortened bonnet, light weight body and many other features that make it a very special car.

Keeping it in the family John’s 2 daughters and son work in the busy business.  Tina is learning the parts side and is fast catching up on dad at identifying the variations on the models.  Lynda looks after the finance, she is the first point of call for customers. Steve is a trained wheeler, he has done his apprenticeship here.

We welcome requests for bespoke work.  Mr Brown is always willing to help and offer advice on panel or
mechanical aspects.
A visit to the new premises, where we moved in 1999, is a 'XK heaven' with every corner and wall revealing a little more of the delightful XK Jaguar.

A true labyrinth of wonders to behold.

Classic Cars of Coventry was commissioned to produce 2 cars for the movie Raiders of the Lost Ark.  Using extensive photo's, diagrams & drawings a Jaguar MK9 chassis had an adapted MK5 body modelled on to it.  The hood was copied to original spec, but was really only for show.
The first car to finished was shipped over to Tunisa for filming.  John & Graig Hinton drove the 2nd car over.  They took great care, but on arrival at the set sand and dirt was thrown over it to make it look like it had been used in desert conditions and to keep the continuity of the first car.
One car was brought back to the U.K. for a while, before joining its sister on the west coast of the USA.
